The unlock is quite simple. The iPhone 3G must be jailbroken, which you can accomplish by using redsn0w. We have not written a guide to jailbreak 3.0, but it is relatively simple and the guide will be posted very shortly.
Quick 1-2-3
- Restore your iPhone 3G to the latest 3.0 firmware.
- Jailbreak it using redsn0w
- Add the source for ultrasn0w to Cydia / Installer. Download & run. Reboot iPhone.
Troubleshooting & Tips
None yet, except a known issue with SIM Pins. It will make you enter your SIM Pin twice on reboot.
FAQ
Q: Will this risk ruining my baseband?
A: No, it does not flash your baseband. It is a program that stays running on your iPhone. It is safe.
Q: Does the daemon take up a lot of CPU or drain the battery?
A: Probably not. It seems to say 0% cpu and 600kb RAM used. I would not worry about it for now.
Q: Where do I get the firmware image?
A: If you click restore in iTunes, iTunes will automatically download the latest firmware. Or you can get it from our downloads page.
Remember this is still beta software so if it is not working well, it is likely not something you did wrong. Check for updates.
