Disclaimer

Please make sure you are looking under the right section. If you have an older iPhone, you MUST download the firmware under “iPhone 2G Firmware”. That also means, if you have an iPhone 3G, you must download the firmware under “iPhone 3G Firmware”. Our guides explain this in more detail, but if you are getting an error while restoring, it is most likely not having the right firmware. There ARE other causes, but not having the correcrt firmware for the appropriate device is a big hiccup in the process. These are big files so make sure you know which ones you want!

Nicole, you need QuickPwn. You should "restore and update" which will install firmware 2.2. Please see our Guides > QuickPwn for Windows. This will walk you through unlocking your phone. There is no ZiPhone support here, sorry.

Thanks for such a sweet crack software. You guys are awesome . I was lucky as I get your link in my second hit one of youtube video. Best part with your software is that its free and it work for all version.

I have 16GB 2G iphone and its working like champ.:-). I have fixed couple of issue like , message forwarding and video recorder, call id .

I need one more help and that is regarding Bluetooth. As still not functional . Please guide me how I can make it work with my laptop or other bluetooth compatible devices so that I can sink it and use it for data transfer like any other phone.

The YouTube video you posted is for ZiPhone, which is outdated and doesn't work for firmware > 2.0. Please see Guides > QuickPwn for Windows and that should do it for you.

As for the bluetooth, it's not functional for filesharing. As far as I know, it's only built for BT headsets, and always has been. There may be a few third party apps - but all that I have seen (MediaShare @ Brancipater.com) are for Wifi.

HI For All Project time.
I have a Problem with iphone 16gb framework 1.1.4 my wi-fi , sound and i can,t make or revice calls and also bluetooth was not working then i found about Your software Ziphone GUI v2.5 then i try it . i select Do it all it start working but after a while its stuck but when i stop it then my iphone framework 1.1.4 was also not working.

Hello Khan,

I would highly recommend fully restoring your iPhone to 2.2. You can do this by putting your phone in restore mode (Hold HOME+POWER until you see the iTunes logo and cable). You can then click Restore & Update in iTunes, which will upgrade it to 2.2. Then read our QuickPwn guide (under the Guides section). ZiPhone is very old and obsolete, I definitely do not reccomend it. When you have the famous “Slide for Emergency” screen, you're set to go with QuickPwn. Hopefully this should solve all of your problems. Let us know if it does.

I really reccomend upgrading to 2.2. There are programs that “fix” these issues - but updating to 2.2 should do it.

Hope you had your contacts backed up…….I upgraded my (2g) firmware in iTunes8 two days ago which locked the phone and gave me an error code 14 in the end. First download 2.2 from links above, then do a RESTORE (Hold Shift then tell iTunes location), let it complete then follow Quikpwn Guide directions linked above and all should be fine in the end. Took me about an hour total after the 245mb firmware download. All works great, couldnt be happier, great product.

You actually have to add that source to Cydia, not visit the page in a web browser. Then you can search for it in Cydia and install it. Let us know if this worked.

sid, in the QuickPwn program there is an “unlock” option and you need to use the bootloaders that are in the guides section (available for download). The phone is probably not unlocked. A faster way to do this - try downloading “BootNeuter” from Cydia and run that to unlock the phone. Let us know the progress

Just plug and play! It doesn't matter, SIM in or out. Just read the guide, follow the directions, and it will lead you to unlocking victory. Really don't want to post detailed steps over and over again which are in the guide, just read it!

I would like to jail break my phone and I have done it but gone back to the original because of lack of information on the internet regarding personal data and jailbreaking. Let me eliabrate, I use my phone for several reasons, App Store, iTunes, ewallet, paypal, ebay, logmein & google email/calender. As you can see most of these require a password to login. My question how secure is my iphone when jailbroken, can you end up with malicious apps that no one has noticed cotains malicious stuff i.e keyloggers, etc

So I jailbroke my phone. I have Cydia and BootNeuter loaded. But no service. I have an activated T-Mobile sim card but can't make calls. Someone mentioned it might be because I have the wrong baseband loaded? I downloaded PwnageTool 2.2.5 and everything went perfectly. Any thoughts?

From what I've seen, this is caused from the regular AT&T activation (did you purchase it from someone who previously had AT&T or did you switch to T-Mobile?) and a pairing issue with the SIM and phone. My best advice would be to completely restore the phone, do not activate through iTunes, but use QuickPwn 2.2 and follow the onscreen instructions. You might as well take your SIM card out totally and do it. Let me know if this worked for you.

I have a 16gig 2G iphone jailbroken and unlocked last weekend to TMobile /2.2.1 using QuickPwn. That entire process was successful, but I cannot find the TZones $5.99 hack in Cydia anymore to access the internet. Also the Settings>Network does not show APN anymore. All I see is VPN and WiFi. Can anyone help me with this please. How do I access the internet outside WiFi areas. I am not much of a techie, so step by step info would be great.

I have acquired an iPHone 2G which is unlocked and jailbroken. However, it will not recognize any WiFi signals around when other iPhones are picking them up. Does the SIM card affect WiFi operations? If not, are there any other settings that I need to go and change to make the WiFI work?

Well, I would restore it to 2.2 and see if you can unlock it. If it's already updated to 2.2.1, you're almost indefinitely out of luck. Let us know what you decide to do - basically I would download firmware 2.2 from the iPhone 3G section. Then hold the power+home until you see the iTunes cable. This will reboot the phone in \”recover mode\”. You'll know when you see the iTunes cable. Now, shift+click (cmd+click mac) \”restore\” button in iTunes. Select the 2.2 firmware. If it succeeds, you're in luck - you have firmware 2.2 and modem firmware 2.28.00 - which means you can unlock it. This is probably the simplest explanation I can think of at 4:32AM Lemme know if you have any luck.

I have successfully jailbroken my phone and now I am enjoying it. A few things to remember and to lookout for though -

1. Just before the jailbreak operation, do a back up of your phone via iTunes. I did not and lost a few days worth of sms logs and 3 days of emails showed up as new. Everything else was fine.

2. I have an iMac with OS X 10.5.7 installed and Quickpwn did not detect my 3G. I had to use PwnageTool.

Thanks for the valuable tip. But looks like I dont have luck with this i-Phone. It dint restore to 2.2. It was throwing up some unexpected error (1013) and was saying could not restore.

I was connected to the internet while doing this and I further screwed it up by trying to restore it online. Now my phone boots up only in recovery mode (i -tunes cable) and only displays the emergency keypad. (and a message saying that insert the proper SIM card)

Pressing home button doesn't even take me to settings/camera/i-Pod/ anything. Very smat apple guys are.

Is anybody else here in the same situation.

when i upgraded my iphone frm 1.1.4 to 2.2.1 and it worked very well but the problem is the phone doesnt detect my optus australian network..i tried Quickpwn but there is no any "unlcoking" option as u show in ur guide. and i download BootNeuter, but i don;t get any idea to use that one. so can u please help me to ride from this problemif u can plz help me out with this…it doesnt even show NO SERVICE just a singal signal line…

Hi. I tried to update my Iphone which I got from the US version 1.1.4. It says that my sim is not supported , and now it's in recovery mode. I've tried to downgrade my iTunes from my current version of 8.0 to 7.5, because initially i thought I could solved it with Ziphone. Now I can't even get my iTunes to start. ( error pop-up window keeps coming up).
I'm totally lost now.

why when I download the iPhone1,2_2.2_5G77_Restore.ipsw it appears to be a zip file, and I can´t change the type.
Could somebody help me? or tell me another way to download it and have a ipsw file.

I've restored my iPhone 2G to firmware 3.0, and after that i have some issues with some application from cydia like
- Backgrounder, Dock, Winterboard, iBluetooth , Lockdown are not working properly
- Terminal, Finder : cannot be started.

All these application are compatible with firmware 3.0 yet ? or is there something with my iPhone ?

Ok…I have an unlocked and jailbroken 2g running 2.2.1. I went to iTunes to update to 3.0. It did something crazy to my phone. I am trying to fix it and having lots of problems. I downloaded redsn0w and the 3.0 ipsw…..it gets all the way to the download screen where it has the hard drive on the phone and does nothing else? What could I possibly doing wrong? yes you can you need to the firmware that you want to restore it to and depending on the firmware you need the right itunes for the new 3.0 you will need itunes 8.2 and anything under the 3.0 you need itunes 8.1 it works I have done it many times

ok first when you find the software or firmware you want to download I find its best to save the file instead of just opening it I save to my desktop so I know where it is and if you are downloading firmware you need to make the file into a ispw file so it will work

Initially I had difficulty unlocking my iPhone 2G with v3.0 as I strictly followed what was displayed in "Guides" as the files needed. QuickPwn did not recognize v3.0 IPSW. After I downloaded redsn0w, I was able to unlock & jailbreak in 5 minutes. Great job guys! I am sure that it would be extremely helpful if someone can update the "Guides" page to show that redsn0w (or later ones for later releases) is required for v3.0 and higher. Again, you guys have done a wonderful job! It is very much appreciated. Thanks a milion.

Try to do a back-up restore from iTunes. My iphone 2G was getting stuck like that. You can install iTunes in a new computer account or a new PC and then attempt to restore. I tried this and got stuck, and then I went back to my old account and did a back-up restore. It worked.

As above I think because it is the newer software it keeps searching for the data service, but I don’t have data service on this phone (it’s my younger sisters) is there a way to turn off the Internet service so it stops searching for it and draining the battery? so i feel like a fool because i'm running quickpwn and i'm failing on the second screen.
it's asking which firmware to use. it tells me i have iphone1,1_3.1. when that firmware IS selected, i get this message: "The IPSW file you selected does not match any firmware version QuickPwn supports. Either the IPSW file is corrupted of the firmware version is unsupported."
when i chose another one like iphone1,1_3.0 or iphone1,1_2.2, it says that the IPSW file does not match the version i have on the phone. i'm using QuickPwn-225-2 and the firmware that QuickPwn automatically finds is from my itunes downloaded from apple. please help. thank you : )

Hi, I am using iphone 8GB and i have faced following problems:

1. There is no msg forwarding option.
2. Blue tooth is not working
3. Msgs are not showed with the name of sender because all msgs came with country code and if i do not save numbers in my contacts list with country code it can not show the name.
4. when i upgrade my firmware (iPhone1,1_2.2.1_5H11_Restore) the below msg appears on itunes.
The iPhone "bridges iPhone" could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible.

Please help me to get my phone as normal as others.

Hello everyone, just wanted to put this out there as for I have jailbroken & unlocked my 2g iphone but when I use my T-Mobil sim card I"m having trouble with the battery life diminishing substantionaly ex: 100% charge at 8am and by 10am I'm at 50% charge.
