If you use the “Upgrade Bootloader from 3.9FB to 4.6, will you still be able to use the 04.04.05_G in an unlocked state? Or will you have to go back to the 04.02.13_G baseband ?
It will revert back to 4.02.13_G because with the 4.6BL, you need the current BB to unlock the previous one. Hope this helped
How would you un-jailbreak and restore to official iphone software once you have JB’d ?
Hey hudzilla, all you have to do is restore from iTunes and everything will be restored to official iPhone software. However, this is only if you chose to unlock with the 4.6BL. If you downgraded to the 3.9FB, than you will need to use the 3.9-4.6BL upgade option. Hope this helps!
Application fails to launch, I get “quit unexpectedly” error
Hey p3r, we would need your specific Operating System and what kind of configuration your running. Thanks!
Hi, I have a question. Is there a payload folder for iLibertyX? I can’t find one. In PC version, there is a payload folder. Should I create one for Mac?
Another question is about the Payloads tab in iLibertyX. When I download a package, e.g., Install BBInfo, where is the downloaded file? I want to keep them in same folder for later use. Also, I noticed that after quitting iLibertyX and re-opening it, the already downloaded package in Payloads tab still is shown grayed, meaning I need to download it again if I need it. How can I manage this to let iLibertyX can recognize the packages I already had? Did I miss something?
Thanks for the help.
Hey Niner - Have you tried selecting a payload in OSX? I think you can chose the folder yourself, after all - you do have a browse button. I don’t know about the rest, I have a PC. Maybe someone else can comment
Thanks your comment, lxtasyxl.
AS you mentioned, I can choose the payload I want. Should I need to make a “payload.zip” which includes the zip and shell script that I download from the website? Or I just choose the zip and shell script, no need to compress them as a payload.zip? I am a little confused about the payload stuff.
I have a MacBookPro running Leopard 10.5.2. It’ s very strange. Am I missing a file or something? The application never launches properly, it quits immidiately after launch!
I tried downloading from all mirrors and I always get the same result. It must have something to do with my computer but I can’ t think of something
I’ve JB using ziphone, but want to use ilibertyx from now on, is all I have to do - itunes restore, then run ilibertyx? I’ve read somewhere ziphone permanently changes bootloader, Is this a major problem?
Many thanks!
How about international payload? Can I use the one for iPlus 2.0b? Or there will be a new one for iLibertyX? When?
hudzilla - yes, it changes your bootloader permantently to 3.9. Zibri thinks it’s an upgrade and 4.6 is a downgrade, but I think he just doesn’t know how to program. Anyway, the 3.9FB is upgradeable to 4.6. The main reason IMO to keep 4.6 is warranty issues. However, if you unlock it, 4.6 needs the current version to unlock the previous version, so modem firmware 402 will go on there. As for it being a major problem - it’s a personal opinion. IMO, Yes, having a 16GB with a 3.9BL is a problem because I can’t take it in for warranty.
Gary - I am pretty sure you can just make your own custom payload and put it in the payloads folder, so I don’t see that this would be a problem either.
p3r - I’m trying to figure out your problem. I haven’t gotten any response back from any of the devs.
Many thanks, so if I restore in iTunes to set up as new phone will I be able to JB using ilibertyx even though I’m stuck with 3.9? Sorry for all the questions, just need to be sure!
Hello,
I have iPhone 1.1.4 unlocked with Ziphone, and I have problem with mic. It doeesn`t work. When I put earphones it works, even in VoiceRecord.
I woud like to try iLibertyX. I start it click Jailbreak, Activate, Unlock and run it, but suddenly application just crash.
I am using Leopard 10.5.2 on MacBookPro.
Can somebody help? Thanks
To help out figuring what is causing it you should know that the application launched flawlessly when I created a new account and run it as an other user
3 more questions:
1. If I select unlock without selecting to downgrade my bootloader will it use the unlocked 4.02.13?
2. If I have a version of firmware other than 1.1.4., do I need to use custom payloads to activate/unlock from Payloads tab or are the necessary files included in the Activate/Unlock options in the Standard tab?
3. Is Installer included during Jailbreak or do I need to install it via custom payload?
hudzilla, yes … no matter what BL you have, iLiberty+ will work for you.
As fof p3r:
1. Yes
2. No
3. Click “Installer” on the main page, theres 4 options.. so
xtasyxl I was refering to iLibertyX, not iLiberty+. I examined payload.sh and the installer is indeed installed during jailbreak.
The only four options in the Standard tab are Jailbreak/activate/unlock/unlock with 3.9fb, as you can see in the pictures above.
Ah I’m sorry. In the + version, you can select if you want have Installer installed. You really should just select the Cydia payload.. as Installer is shit.
Cydia is not available as a payload,at least not yet
I think it is on the mac version..
Nope, option to download is disabled
I’m a bit confused on bootloaders and warranty issues, as I’ve read that your warranty could be voided if you use the wrong bootloader.
Can I jailbreak it without voiding my warranty using iLiberty+? If so, what do I need to do? I’m running on a Mac, by the way. My iPhone was, I believe, 1.1.2 out of the box, but I’ve stayed current with iPhone updates thru iTunes as I’m currently on 1.1.4
Thanks!
Brandon,
No worries if you’re just jailbreaking. Don’t unlock the phone, because then you will have to figure out bootloader stuff. Just select jailbreak and program will do the rest - and this will allow you to restore your phone to factory state if needed warranty (restore in iTunes)
It seems that iLibertyX is a more professional piece of software than ZiPhone, but if I allready have a working 16 gb phone using ZiPhone, what would be the benefit of restoring my phone and recracking it with iLibertyX? Is there a benefit in using bootloader 4.6?
schack - If you’re not having any problems, than I don’t see why not. However, I fixed my YouTube problems right away with iLiberty+’s option. You are kind of screwed though because ZiPhone automatically downgrades your bootloader to 3.9 and you can’t restore it. If you ever wanted to take it in for warranty, and the Apple rep wanted to be a real dick, they can check the BL version and see that it’s 3.9. There were never 16GB iPhones released with 3.9! There is no benefit in using either bootloader. Actually, I’ve seen the map locator not work with 4.6 sometimes - but it’s all more of an opinion more than anything. Ultimately, the choice is yours on which piece of software to use. But, reality: iLiberty+ is the best “ORIGINAL” software to unlock an iPhone to date.
Thanks for the quick answer.
Raises a couple of new ones. Can’t I upgrade the bootloader?? There seems to be an option in iLibertyX to upgrade from 3.9 to 4.6? And about the warranty. I think I’m in a gray area already because I’m in the EU (Denmark) and I bought the phone from a webshop in the US. I’m pretty sure that Apple wouldn’t accept any warranty in a country where they don’t sell the phone in the first place. I, like so many other, love this little piece of hardware and I wan’t it to be as stable as possible. If there is the least bit of benefit in using iLibertyX, upgrading to 4.6 or any other tweak I’ll do it in a heartbeat.
schack - You can not upgrade your BL if you’re at 3.9. You must have the 3.9FB to upgrade to 4.6 - that is why the option is there. Using iLiberty+ is just much more flexible than ZiPhone. It has many more features. Another thing that ZiPhone is bad for: The RAMDISK being over written during the ZiPhone process by the OS Memory causes corruption. It has a *HUGE* ramdisk and it makes potential for the broken Wifi/BT problems. iLiberty+ has phase2 with a minimal ramdisk. Hope this helps. Just remember when your’re using ZiPhone - you might nuke your phones Wifi/BT
hi,
I really hope someone can help me with my questions coz I’m dying to upgrade my firmware but yet I’m pretty lost with everything.
I’m currently on 1.0.2, running on windows n itunes 7.4.2 and wish to upgrade to 1.1.4.
Couple of questions:
1) Can I just use itunes to install the 1.1.4 firmware and use iLibertyX to jailbreak, activate and unlock my iphone?
2) Do I need to virginize my iphone as described here: http://www.modmyifone.com/forums/showthread.php?p=504271
3) Do I need to check “unloack with 3.9FB” and “Upgrade Bootloader from 3.9FB to 4.6″
I would really appreciate whatever help I can get.
Thanks
Hi everybody,
I own a 8Gb iPhone with FW 1.1.1 and BL: 3.9 . All is working fine for me no. Use the phone, sens SMS, WiFi the whole nine yards.
But some how I want to upgrade using iLibertyX.
Is is actually that simple? I do not want to cry all weekend if it crashes!
Hope you guys can provide me with some positive vibes…
;o)
@lxtasyxl
Thanks for all the info. Although I can’t get back to 4.6 (I’m kinda pissed with Zibri on that one), I restored my phone and went through the whole process with iLibertyX and I have to say it went smooth. I even think the phone is more responsive and stable now.
Thanks for a job really well done.
@Nimbus - it is *very* simple to do. Even though Zibri’s is a “DO IT ALL” one click program, iLiberty+ (Mac/Win) is so much easier, and has so many more jobs. You can also rest assured that it is much more stable. If you have any questions during the process, you can always ask the people on irc.osx86.hu #iphone for help.
@schack - Good stuff, hope you’re lovin it’
@Ixtasyxl - I just used it to ‘do’ my iPod Touch and it worked like a charm…
So you say.. go for it?
OK…
@Nimbus - if it’s already done, than why? If you want to try something else than go for it
But yes, I would do it just to have the experience of using the different software
If have a Touch and a Phone… Touch is done.. but I’m bit more careful with my iPhone… just afraid that if it doesn’t work I’m stuck with a … piece of plastic…
@Nimbus - you’ll be fine.
Hi. One question about iLiberty+
I’m trying to install a specific payload called payload_br. So I downloaded it from internet and the author said that a should rename from payload_br.zip to payload.zip. I did it, but iLiberty+ program can’t read files like *.zip, iLiberty+ can read only *.tar
What can I do to solve it?
Thanks

ANYONE: If I use iLIberty X or + to get jailbreak, activation, etc, Can I restore the phone to its original condition i.e.: ready for AT& T activation?
Did Liberty Jailbreak, Activation. Placed new SIM but did not recognize new SIM? Is that uncommon? Could it be the type of SIM Card I used?
Hi,
I’ve read this tutorial http://ipluspwns.com/?q=node/101, but I’m not sure…
I have an iPhone OTB with a StealthSIM (so, my baseband is “virgin”): What should I do?
- restore my iPhone with firmware 1.1.4 (via iTunes) with the sealthSIM inside and afterwards launch iLibertyX?
- Remove the StealthSIM from the iPhone and the restore and use the iLibertyX?
Thanks (from Spain)
Hi…
I just used LibertyX and everything seemed to work fine but now my Mail application crashes when I start it… what is the problem?

Hi, i tried to unlock and jailbreak my phone but all i see is a bunch of text but at the very end it keeps going with the following “BSD root: md0, major2, minor 0″
I tried to put the phone to recovery but when i turn it back on it goes to the same thing the long text list and with same text as above.
I also left the phone do its thing to maybe it would do something but it doesnt Please help me get the phone back to normal Please please Thankss
Hi, i also tried to unlock and jailbreak my phone. But now, what I see is many lines of the same text “BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0″.
Then I recalled that i did not restore my iphone to 1.1.4 using iTunes before I start. What should i do now??? Please help.. Thanks.
Hi guys
Nervous about this. Do I need the AT&T simcard to do this? Seems like a few people get the message that the phone does not register the sim.
@Peggy @Tobby I had the same problem. Just put the phone in DFU recovery mode http://www.winandmac.com/mobile/iphone/how-to-put-iphone-in-dfu-mode-easily/ and restore through iTunes.
Then go through the same steps with iLiberty as before. It will look as though all your songs, contacts, email settings, etc are gone the first time it starts up but just open iTunes and ask it to restore your previous settings. Worked like a charm.
@andrew Yes, iTunes will complain about the SIM but just ignore it and launch iLiberty with the checkboxes for activate and unlock marked. The next time you open iTunes it will recognize the SIM as if it were standard issue ATT.

Hi guys,
Help!!!Help!!
I’ve never been good at computers, and today I proved it. I have downloaded iLibertyX as in most of the websites says that is very easy to use (so, I thought that is the one for me) Nevertheless, when I connected my itouch in order to jailbreak it…the programm seems that nothing whats going on. So I disconnected from the computer. when I turned on the itouch a constant message doesn`t stops to appear “BSD root: md0, major2, minor 0″
The thing is that even I try to turned it off, on the screen of my itouch always says that sort of strange message…but when I reconnected to the computer other kind of strange message appears in which says
“start IpodSatack can`t start! Need configuration”
What kind I do???
I will apreciate any kind of help….
Thanks for everything

luis,
1. Make sure phone is connected to computer, and is displaying “BSD Root: md0, major 2, minor 0″
2. Disconnect phone from computer
3. Power off phone
4. Press and hold Home button, connect phone to computer (don’t release Home yet), it’ll start booting
5. Wait till phone displays iTunes + USB cable icon, you may release Home now
and finally use itunes to restore your ipod, im having the same problem with my macbook but ilibertyx runs just fine on my powerbook G4

Hi,
Quick questions i am in UK and getting my brand new iphone tomorrow. Its a 8gb one, i believe it should have the latest firmware.
So what is the best step to unlock my phone. Do i download the bootloader or leave it as it is.
The Iphone in UK is meant to work with O2 network, which is what i will be using. Do i still need to unlock it den? Can i just jailbreak it and activate it, will this work.
If i unlock it will i void the warranty on it?
If i have to unlock it to use it can i den restore it to original say like out of box where i need to activate sim.
Any help appreciated.
Hey guys,
If anyone can help me that would be greatly appreciated. I was running the iLibertyX jail break program on a Mac with OSX. My power cord came out and my computer died a few hours in to the process. It had been running for about 4 hours prior to being shut down, but it didn’t seem to finish. It now says “BSD root : md0, major 2, minor 0″ from top to bottom. When I plug in the iPhone to my computer now, it says “… Start iPod Stack can’t start needs configuration.”
Any idea on what I can do to fix this?
