Yesterday morning there were yelps across the modding community - many of those who installed 2.0 (5A225c) got locked out by what has come to be affectionately called “The Pink Screen of Death”. Well, Apple has released a new build (5A240d) to its developers today, and it’s 200MB! So what has Apple added to make the image so large? Well, a closer look at the filesystem shows and interesting change in language support - namely, it looks like the iPhone is coming to more countries officially! You can check out the table below for more info. Above are some screen shots to prove the language support, be sure to check them out! This is definitely some exciting stuff!
Update: A closer look at /System/Library/Carrier Bundles/ shows that support for Ireland’s O2 carrier has finally been added, but that aside from the language support for the 7 new countries, Apple has not yet added Carrier Bundles for them, so we can’t really tell which carriers have been chosen by Apple, but we can guess that they will be the ones with the largest customer base in their respective countries. Filesystem Decryption Key: Along with the new firmware, the newest version of the iPhone SDK was also released. There were several changes in the frameworks. Most notably were Celestial and Foundation frameworks. Oh, and Apple also decided to throw in some documentation for Interface builder.
